Italian-Style Marble · Brass · Up & Down Wall Sconce

A tubular marble wall sconce in the language of contemporary Italian stone lighting — a single hand-cut marble cylinder cantilevered from a slim brass back-panel, throwing light up onto the ceiling and down onto the wall through both open ends. The proportion is reductive: one stone form, one slim metal panel, two pools of light.

Each cylinder is hand-cut from a fresh block of Italian-style marble — Calacatta Viola for the dramatic violet-and-cream pattern, or warm Cremo Gold for a softer honeyed veining. The marble is translucent enough to let warm light pass through where the stone is thinnest, glowing the entire tube from within. Suited to bedside walls, hallways, powder rooms, dressing rooms, and flanking pairs above console tables.

Hand-Cut Marble

Each cylinder is cut and finished from a single block of Italian-style marble — natural veining unique to every piece.

Up & Down Light

Open at both ends — light washes up onto the ceiling and down onto the wall, with the stone glowing from within.

Brass Back Panel

Slim cantilevered brass panel mounts to a standard wall box with a clean architectural profile.

Calacatta Viola Style · Black + White

Cream marble with dramatic violet-black veining and gold accents. Statement piece for modern, art-forward, and Italian-style interiors.

Cremo Gold · Honeyed

Warm cream-and-gold marble with soft honey veining. Quieter character, suits warm transitional and traditional rooms.

Hand-cut natural marble. Each tube is cut and polished from a single block of Italian-style marble — natural veining patterns, color saturation, and translucency vary piece to piece, so the marble you receive will be unique. The piece pictured is representative; your exact veining will differ. This is the character of natural stone, not a flaw.

  • Hardwires to a standard wall junction box — professional installation recommended.
  • Brass back panel covers most US single-gang boxes; verify before drilling.
  • Install at 60–66″ above finished floor for hallways and bedside walls; flanking pairs above mantel typically center 6–9″ above mantel shelf.
  • Install the marble tube carefully onto the cantilever after the back panel is mounted — handle by the body, not the open ends.
  • Fits a single G9 socket bulb — supply your own warm-white G9 LED.
  • Indoor only · suitable for powder rooms and bath vanities away from direct shower spray.
  • Clean marble with a soft dry cloth or barely damp cloth; avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners which etch natural stone.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo? +

No — and that's the point. Each marble cylinder is hand-cut from a fresh block, so veining patterns, color depth, and the location of dark and light bands shift from piece to piece. The photo shows representative character; your sconce will be uniquely yours. We can occasionally accommodate dramatic / quieter veining preferences — please contact us before ordering.

What is "Italian-style" marble? +

The Calacatta Viola–style cylinders are cut from natural marble selected to match the visual character of Italian Calacatta Viola — cream base with violet-black and gold veining. The stone is sourced from quarries that produce comparable patterning rather than from the original Italian Calacatta basin, which is why we use the "-style" qualifier.

How does the up-and-down light look? +

The marble tube is open at both ends, so light spills upward onto the ceiling and downward onto the wall, with the stone itself glowing from within where the marble is thinnest. The result is layered ambient light — soft general illumination plus the marble reading as an illuminated object on the wall.

Is the sconce dimmable? +

Yes, with the right bulb. The fixture takes a single G9 socket bulb. Install a dimmable G9 LED on a TRIAC wall dimmer and the sconce dims smoothly. Warm white 2700K–3000K is recommended to flatter both marble color options.

Can I install it in a bathroom? +

The Tubular Marble suits powder rooms and bath vanities away from direct shower spray. Avoid placing it directly above a shower or tub where steam and water make sustained contact — natural marble can etch when exposed to acidic moisture and humidity over time. For wet-zone installations, please contact us.

The Marble Series

Sculptural fixtures hewn from natural stone — each one carrying the signature of geology, time, and the human hand.

Born of Time

Pressure, heat, and one hundred million years — nature's slowest brushwork. Each lamp wears a pattern that exists once, and never again.

The Material

From Stone to Illumination

Marble is not a finish. It is a material with a memory.

A metamorphic rock, marble is born of recrystallized carbonate minerals — limestone subjected to heat and pressure deep within the earth's crust over geological time. Its distinctive veining, the subtle gradient of its color, the cool weight of its surface — all are records of the forces that shaped it across millions of years.

"Where a manufactured material repeats itself, marble can only be itself. Each piece is the only piece — the sole physical expression of a particular vein, formed once and quarried once."

Signatures of Stone

Three Marks of Authenticity

Three qualities you will only find in genuine, quarried marble — and never in anything cast, printed, or manufactured to imitate it.

i. Distinctive marble veining — every pattern unique
Vena

Distinctive Veining

Each vein traces the path of mineral seepage millions of years ago. Nature's own brushwork — a pattern that exists once, on this lamp, and nowhere else on earth.

ii. Subtle natural marble color variations — cream, ivory, pearl grey
Tono

Subtle Tonality

Cream, ivory and pearl grey deepen in soft gradients, occasionally crossed by veins of warm caramel. Quiet, natural tones that grace every interior style.

iii. The cool, smooth tactile quality of polished natural marble
Tatto

Cool, Tactile Hand

A density and coolness only ancient stone can offer. Marble holds the air around it — substantial, calming, real. A weight you feel before you see.

From Quarry to Hearth

Five Stages of Slow Craft

From the raw block extracted at the quarry, to the moment the lamp is wired and tested in our atelier — every fixture passes through five hand-guided stages.

N° 01 / Cava
Quarrying — solid blocks extracted from natural marble quarry

Quarrying

Solid blocks are extracted from the foothills, where geological forces left their finest seams. Only stones with sound structure and clean veining are selected.

N° 02 / Lastra
Slab cutting — diamond blade revealing marble veining

Slab Cutting

Diamond-tipped blades part the block into precise slabs — each cut is a first reveal of the unique veining hidden inside the stone for millennia.

N° 03 / Scolpire
Shaping and carving — skilled hand work on marble

Shaping & Carving

Each form is cut by skilled hands — a patient negotiation between the designer's intent and the grain of the stone itself.

N° 04 / Lucidare
Hollowing and polishing — interior bored, exterior honed

Hollow & Polish

The interior is bored to delicate walls so warm light may pass through. The exterior is honed and hand-polished to its final, luminous finish.

N° 05 / Montaggio
Assembly and wiring — final integration in the atelier

Assembly

Wiring, sockets and fittings are integrated by our atelier team. Each fixture is bench-tested and inspected before it leaves the workshop.
