A quiet pursuit of light, since 2008.
For nearly two decades Radilum has been making lighting that earns its place in homes — alabaster pendants, brass chandeliers, marble sconces designed to be lived with for decades, not seasons. We are a small team. We answer email. We make every fixture as if it were going into our own home.
A small team, a clear obsession.
Radilum began in 2008 with a simple frustration shared by its founders — that the lighting market had bifurcated into two unhelpful poles. On one end, mass-produced fixtures that arrived flimsy and forgotten within a year. On the other, designer pieces priced as though every alabaster pendant were a museum acquisition. Beautiful, considered lighting at honest pricing did not seem to be a category anyone was actively building.
So we set out to build it. Quietly, without venture capital or marketing fanfare — a small studio, a handful of suppliers, a long list of materials we wanted to work with: hand-quarried alabaster, solid brass, travertine cut from the same block, ceramic glazed in the old way. Seventeen years later we are still doing the same thing, only with deeper benches, longer relationships, and a manufacturing footprint that reflects what we have learned about how light actually meets the room.
2008–2014 Studio Years
The first six years were spent building relationships rather than scale — workshops in Asia who knew how to hand-cut alabaster, brass spinners who could finish a chandelier arm to a mirror without losing the warmth, ceramic kilns where every glaze was mixed in small batches. Most of those workshops are still our partners today.
2015–2020 Direct to Home
We embraced a digital-first approach early — long before most lighting brands were comfortable selling beyond the showroom. The bet was simple: families furnishing their own homes deserve the same access, the same advisor, and the same craftsmanship that the trade has always enjoyed. The bet has paid off in over two million homes across 180 countries.
2021–Today The Atelier Era
In 2021 we made the largest single commitment of our history: a $20 million investment in our own 100,000 sq ft production facility, alongside a continuing network of 3,000 specialized partners. The reason was simple — owning the facility means owning the standard. Every glaze, every weld, every alabaster veining now passes under a single roof before it ships.
A lamp is the smallest piece of architecture in a room. We treat it that way.
100,000 square feet, one continuous standard.
In 2021 we did something most lighting brands at our scale do not do — we stopped outsourcing our most critical work and brought it in. The Radilum atelier is a 100,000 square foot facility in Asia, dedicated entirely to our fixtures, staffed by craftsmen we have worked with for years, and supervised by our own designers and engineers.
The reason is simple: owning the facility means owning the standard. We are not negotiating with a third-party factory about how many minutes can be spent dressing a brass arm. We are not asking another brand's supplier to fit our work between their priorities. The kilns, the polishing wheels, the photometric lab, the QC bench — they are ours, and they run on our calendar.

Where every fixture begins and ends.
The atelier was built around three principles we believe in deeply. One: light moves through material — so we keep raw stock close, allowing any piece to be hand-selected before cutting begins. Two: people make the light, not the machine — natural ventilation, daylight, and dedicated rest spaces sit alongside the equipment. Three: the last hand a fixture meets before crating is the same hand that knows what it should look like.
Two hundred specialists, one shared bench.
Behind every fixture is a roster you will not find on the box: alabaster cutters who choose stones by the way light passes through, brass spinners trained over decades, kiln masters who know each glaze by smell, and a team of designers, engineers, and U.S.-based care advisors who oversee every step. Many of our specialists have been with us for over a decade. The institutional memory matters: it is what lets us promise a finish in 2026 that will still match a fixture you bought from us in 2014.

The light behind the rooms you already know.
A meaningful share of our work happens quietly — under the imprimatur of design firms, hotel groups, and architectural studios who specify Radilum fixtures for projects we are not always permitted to name. The visible end of that work, however, is harder to miss.
