Wall Sconce · Brass Body · Ceramic or Aluminum Shade · 3 Finishes · 1 or 2 Heads · E26 / E27
See It In Action
The Thetford is a brass wall sconce with a classic tapered shade silhouette — the proportions are traditional without being ornate, the overall form reading as quietly refined rather than decorative. Available as a single-head or double-head version, in three body finishes: brass, nickel, and white.
The shade is available in two materials — ceramic and aluminum — each with different light and handling characteristics. Ceramic shades are semi-translucent and glow through the shade material when lit; aluminum shades are opaque metal and direct light downward only, but are more robust for shipping and handling. Both are available at checkout.
Lampshade Options — Ceramic vs Aluminum
Ceramic Shade
Light-transmissive — glows from within
- Semi-translucent ceramic wall — the shade glows softly when lit, adding a warm halo around the form
- Produces both downward task light and a diffused ambient glow through the shade body
- Slightly more delicate — handle with care during installation
- Preferred choice for bedrooms, living rooms, and spaces where softer, more atmospheric light is the goal
Aluminum Shade
Opaque metal — directional downward light
- Solid metal — no light passes through the shade wall; all light exits from the open bottom
- Produces a focused, directional downward cone of light
- More robust for shipping and handling; less risk of damage in transit
- Preferred choice for task positions, hallways, and spaces where directional light is preferred over ambient glow
Finish — Choose at Checkout
Body finish only varies. Shade material (ceramic / aluminum) is selected separately at checkout.

Bedrooms · Reading positions · Hallways · Compact accent walls
Bedside pairs · Vanity flanking · Fireplace surrounds · Wider accent walls
Bulbs are not included. Each arm uses one E26 (US) or E27 (international) standard socket. Recommended: 4–8W LED A19/A60 at 2700K warm white, frosted or opal glass. For the ceramic shade, frosted bulbs produce the most even glow through the shade wall. For the aluminum shade, bulb shape matters less as light exits from the open bottom only.

FAQ
Ceramic or aluminum shade — which should I choose? +
Choose ceramic for a softer, more atmospheric result — the semi-translucent shade wall glows when lit, adding warmth to the wall surface around the fixture. This works particularly well in bedrooms, dining rooms, and living rooms where ambient quality of light matters as much as the light output itself. Choose aluminum for a more focused, directional result — all light exits from the open bottom of the shade, producing a defined cone of task light. The aluminum shade is also more robust in transit and generally lower-risk to order internationally.
1-head or 2-head — which suits my space? +
The 1-head (L 23 cm) is compact and self-contained — suited to bedside positions, hallways, and spaces where a single accent point is sufficient. The 2-head (L 70 cm) extends two arms symmetrically from the central canopy and reads as a wider, more substantial fixture. It is the better choice for flanking a vanity mirror, framing a fireplace or bed, or anchoring a larger wall surface where a single head would feel under-scaled.
Which finish suits my interior? +
Brass is warm and period-appropriate — suits traditional, transitional, and warm-neutral interiors. Nickel is cooler and more contemporary, sitting between chrome and matte silver — suits modern and minimalist spaces. White is the most neutral and recessive option, reading as a deliberate clean accent against white or light walls. In all three finishes, the tapered shade form remains the primary visual element.
Is it dimmable? +
Yes, when fitted with dimmable E26/E27 LED bulbs and a compatible TRIAC wall dimmer switch (both sold separately). Specify “dimmable” when purchasing bulbs. For the ceramic shade version, dimming to 30–50% produces the most atmospheric result — the warm glow through the ceramic wall becomes more pronounced at lower brightness levels.

The ceramic story
Petals shaped by hand
Each ceramic flower is modelled, glazed and fired by hand, then wired onto the frame one by one. Glaze pools differently on every petal, so colour and sheen vary a little from bloom to bloom — the signature of handwork.
Victorian form.
Modern restraint.
Porcelain & aluminium shades. Solid brass arms.
A fixture that looks like it was always there.
Three principles, one coherent voice.
The Thetford Series is not a mood board assembled from Pinterest references. It is a disciplined answer to a single question: what does a lamp look like when it respects the room? Every decision — the curve of the shade, the weight of the arm, the choice of porcelain over glass — follows from the three principles below.
Breaking away from industrial mass-production to create a home that feels curated over a lifetime. Nothing in this collection was designed to match a catalogue. It was designed to outlast one.
Drawing silhouettes from ancient scullery lamps — refined for the heart of the modern home. The proportions are historical. The finish and light source are this century.
Rejecting clutter for perfect proportions and premium materials that speak for themselves. There are no decorative flourishes because none are needed. The grandeur is in the restraint.
Four archetypes — a complete ecosystem.
Every Thetford fixture is designed to exist alongside the others — same vocabulary, different conversation. Mix Linear Pendants over the island with a Wall Sconce above the backsplash and the room reads as intentionally designed, not accidentally collected.

Two shades. Two entirely different rooms.
The Thetford Series offers two shade materials — not as a finish option but as a design decision. The choice between Translucent Porcelain and Industrial Aluminium changes the quality of light, the character of the room, and the decade the space seems to come from. Both are right. The question is which is right for your room.

The two materials are designed to coexist. A common specification: Porcelain pendants over the kitchen island (where atmosphere matters) and Aluminium in the pantry or utility area (where task focus is everything). The contrast reads as collected over time — the hallmark of a premium English interior.
The kitchen essential you didn't know you were missing.
Modern kitchens suffer from over-lighting — recessed LEDs spaced every 18 inches, illuminating nothing in particular at full intensity. Thetford brings light down to human scale, creating intimacy without sacrificing task performance. The ceiling becomes quiet. The island becomes the room.
The series is designed to be mixed deliberately. Porcelain over the island — Aluminium in the pantry — Sconce above the backsplash. Each fixture speaks the same language with a different inflection. The result is a room that reads as designed, not decorated.
Two rules that change the installation.
Lighting placement is the last decision made and the one that undoes everything else. The two principles below come from our specification team — distilled from hundreds of kitchen projects where the placement was either exactly right or nearly right.

"For islands between 6 ft and 8 ft, three single pendants provide the most balanced visual rhythm and shadow-free task lighting. Space them at equal thirds — never centred as a pair."

"Don't be afraid to pair Brass fixtures with Black or Nickel cabinetry hardware. This 'collected' style is the hallmark of premium English design — and the reason Thetford reads as curated, not coordinated."
Mounting heights for wall lamps
Where the light sits on the wall decides whether it reads as decoration or as useful light.
