A 3-light wall sconce in the French Louis XV Rococo vocabulary that defined 18th-century court interiors and American Gilded Age dressing rooms — a chased brass back-plate carries cascading floral garlands of cast roses, foliage tendrils, and ribbon detail above three scrolled candle arms terminating in brass bobeches and exposed candelabra sockets. The lower terminus resolves in a Rococo cartouche with shell-and-leaf relief.
Drawn from the 18th-century French maisons de bronze wall-sconce tradition. Installation
- Licensed electrician required. Hardwired wall-mount via supplied back-plate to a standard wall junction box.
- Center the sconce 60–66″ above the finished floor for general wall-mount installations; 72–80″ for stair walls; 18–24″ above a console or sideboard top.
- For flanking-pair installations on either side of a fireplace, mirror, or dining sideboard, space the centers 36–60″ apart depending on the focal element width — order quantity 2.
- Bulbs supplied by installer. Clear candle LEDs at 2700K — clear envelope reads best with the chased brass and Rococo cartouche detail.
- Care: dust with a soft dry cloth. Do not use ammonia, vinegar, or commercial brass polish — these dull the chased finish; for fingerprints, a microfiber cloth lightly dampened with distilled water.

Where does this sconce work best? +
French Rococo wall sconces traditionally install in flanking pairs — on either side of a fireplace mantel, a sideboard mirror, a dining-room sideboard, or a primary-stair landing. Single-sconce placement also works above a powder-room mirror or beside a primary-suite dressing mirror. For paired installations, order quantity 2 and space the centers 36–60″ apart depending on the focal element width.
How high should I mount it? +
For general wall-mount installations, center the sconce 60–66″ above the finished floor. For stair walls, 72–80″. For installations above a console or sideboard, 18–24″ above the surface top. The sconce projects approximately 6″ (15 cm) from the wall — confirm clearance for paired symmetry on flanking installations.
Will my sconce match the photographs? +
The form and silhouette are made to consistent specification — your sconce will read identically in shape. The chased brass detail (cast roses, foliage tendrils, ribbon, and Rococo cartouche relief) carries hand-finishing variation: chasing depth, gilt patina, and surface character differ subtly between fixtures. Your sconce will sit within the same visual language as the photographs but will be visibly distinct under close inspection.
What bulbs should I use? +
3 × candelabra-base candle bulbs, supplied by your installer. We recommend clear-envelope candle LEDs at 2700K warm white, ≤ 25W incandescent-equivalent. Clear glass reads best against the chased brass and floral relief — frosted bulbs flatten the period-correct candle-light effect. For period-faithful flame effect, dimmable LED candelabra bulbs with flickering filament profile are widely available from US specialty retailers.
Is it dimmable? Lutron-compatible? +
Standard wiring is non-dimming. TRIAC-dimmable wiring is available as a custom build — please specify when contacting us. Compatible with Lutron Caséta, Diva, and forward-phase wall dimmers when paired with dimmable LED candelabra bulbs.

Cast, chased and finished by hand
Our brass and iron fixtures are cast, chased and finished in our own workshop — gold-leafed, bronzed or lacquered by hand, which is why no two carry exactly the same glow. Colour is grown in the finishing bath rather than sprayed on, then sealed to age gracefully. Choose a finish above, or ask for any other metal finish from the Finishes Library.
