The Block is a plug-in table lamp with a Calacatta marble base — the rectangular block profile gives the lamp its name and its structural clarity. The base is solid marble, hand-cut with the veining running through the full depth of the block; above it, a white linen shade diffuses the E26 source into a warm, even ambient glow. The harp — the metal bracket that holds the shade — is finished in black metal, the dark accent reading as a deliberate detail against the white marble and linen.
Available in two sizes — a compact D 26 × H 28 cm and a full D 36 × H 40 cm — both with a 150 cm / 59″ plug cord. No hardwiring required; the lamp installs by plugging into a standard wall outlet.
Each piece is unique. Calacatta marble veining varies between individual pieces — the grey-gold vein pattern in your lamp will differ from the photographs shown. This is inherent to natural stone, not a defect. If ordering a matched pair, contact us before ordering and we will prioritise matching veining from the same slab where possible.
Size — Choose at Checkout
Bedside tables · Desks · Narrow console tables · Compact spaces where the marble base reads as an accent object
Side tables · Living room end tables · Entryway consoles · Spaces where the lamp is the primary table accent
Plug-in installation. Both sizes include a 150 cm / 59″ plug cord — no hardwiring or electrician required. The cord routes from the base to a standard wall outlet. For the cleanest look, route the cord behind furniture or use an in-wall cord cover (available at hardware stores).
Bulbs are not included. Each lamp uses one E26 (US) or E27 (international) standard socket. Recommended: 6–8W LED A19/A60 at 2700K warm white, frosted or opal glass, for an even diffused glow through the linen shade. Avoid clear-glass or bare-filament bulbs which can show as a hotspot through fabric shades.

FAQ
Small or large — which size suits my space? +
The small (D 26 / H 28 cm) is the most versatile bedside and desk size — the compact marble block reads as an object of considered material weight rather than a statement lamp. It suits narrower bedside tables, small desks, and spaces where a subtle, refined presence is preferred. The large (D 36 / H 40 cm) is the dominant version — the larger marble block reads as an architectural element on the table surface and is better suited to wider side tables, living room end tables, and entryway consoles where the lamp is the primary visual anchor.
Will my marble veining match the photos? +
Not exactly — and that is by design. Calacatta marble from the same quarry produces a different vein pattern in every block. The grey-gold diagonal vein character will be consistent, but the specific density, angle, and distribution of veining in your piece will differ from the photographs. If you are ordering a pair (e.g. for two bedside tables) and want closely matched veining, contact us before ordering — we will source from the same slab where stock allows.
How do I manage the plug cord? +
The 150 cm / 59″ cord gives enough length to route from the lamp to a wall outlet behind or beside the furniture it sits on. The cleanest options: route behind a nightstand or side table where the cord is hidden by the furniture edge; use a self-adhesive cord clip (available at hardware stores) to run it neatly along the baseboard; or use an in-wall cord cover for a completely flush result. For bedside installations, many users simply hide the cord behind the nightstand — at 59″ of length, it reaches most standard outlet positions.
Is it dimmable? +
Yes, when fitted with a dimmable E26/E27 LED bulb and a compatible plug-in in-line cord dimmer (a rotary or slider control inserted between the lamp cord and the wall outlet, sold separately at hardware stores). Alternatively, plug into a switched outlet connected to a wall dimmer. Specify “dimmable” when purchasing the LED bulb. For a bedside lamp, dimming to 20–40% before sleep produces the most restful, warm ambient result through the linen shade.

The stone story
One block. One lamp. One veining.
Marble is quarried in blocks, cut into slabs and hollowed thin enough for light to pass through — when the lamp is on, the veins show like ink in water. Because no two blocks are alike, every piece is one of one; the veining in the photos is a guide, not a promise. Prefer travertine, alabaster or a coloured marble? We cut those too.
The Marble Series
Sculptural fixtures hewn from natural stone — each one carrying the signature of geology, time, and the human hand.
Pressure, heat, and one hundred million years — nature's slowest brushwork. Each lamp wears a pattern that exists once, and never again.
From Stone to Illumination
Marble is not a finish. It is a material with a memory.
A metamorphic rock, marble is born of recrystallized carbonate minerals — limestone subjected to heat and pressure deep within the earth's crust over geological time. Its distinctive veining, the subtle gradient of its color, the cool weight of its surface — all are records of the forces that shaped it across millions of years.
Three Marks of Authenticity
Three qualities you will only find in genuine, quarried marble — and never in anything cast, printed, or manufactured to imitate it.
Distinctive Veining
Each vein traces the path of mineral seepage millions of years ago. Nature's own brushwork — a pattern that exists once, on this lamp, and nowhere else on earth.
Subtle Tonality
Cream, ivory and pearl grey deepen in soft gradients, occasionally crossed by veins of warm caramel. Quiet, natural tones that grace every interior style.
Cool, Tactile Hand
A density and coolness only ancient stone can offer. Marble holds the air around it — substantial, calming, real. A weight you feel before you see.
Five Stages of Slow Craft
From the raw block extracted at the quarry, to the moment the lamp is wired and tested in our atelier — every fixture passes through five hand-guided stages.
Quarrying
Solid blocks are extracted from the foothills, where geological forces left their finest seams. Only stones with sound structure and clean veining are selected.
Slab Cutting
Diamond-tipped blades part the block into precise slabs — each cut is a first reveal of the unique veining hidden inside the stone for millennia.
Shaping & Carving
Each form is cut by skilled hands — a patient negotiation between the designer's intent and the grain of the stone itself.
Hollow & Polish
The interior is bored to delicate walls so warm light may pass through. The exterior is honed and hand-polished to its final, luminous finish.
Assembly
Wiring, sockets and fittings are integrated by our atelier team. Each fixture is bench-tested and inspected before it leaves the workshop.
