Drawn from the coach lanterns that once lit the drives of English manor estates and the front walks of American colonial homes, the Newbury Estate Lantern brings that same sense of arrival to a modern exterior. A tapered lantern cage in bronze-finished brass is crowned with an ornate cap and supported by graceful scroll brackets, rising from a slender fluted post and a stepped, weighted base.
Frosted white glass panels soften the bulb into a warm, even glow — bright enough to mark the way, gentle enough to feel welcoming rather than floodlit. Sealed to IP65, the lantern stays outside through rain and garden sprinklers. Set it beside a front walk, at the foot of entry steps, along a flower bed, or at the edge of a patio, and simply plug it in — no hardwiring required.

The plug is not waterproof. The IP65 rating covers the lantern and its outdoor-rated cord only. Connect to a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet with a weatherproof in-use cover, and keep the plug off the ground and away from standing water.
Placement & Setup
- Freestanding plug-in design — no electrician, hardwiring, or digging required.
- The lantern stands on its own base and is not anchored. Place it on a firm, level surface such as paving, a patio, decking, or a path.
- On lawn or soil, set the base on a flat paving stone so it stays level and does not sink after rain.
- Choose a sheltered spot in exposed or windy gardens, and move the lantern indoors or lay it down ahead of storms and high winds.
- Plug into a GFCI-protected outdoor outlet with a weatherproof in-use cover. If an extension cord is needed, use an outdoor-rated one and keep the connection dry and raised off the ground.
- Route the cord away from walkways and mowing areas. Do not bury the cord or the plug connection.

Every fixture is made when you order it — usually 1–3 weeks in our workshop, a little longer for hand-blown glass and large pieces. Then it ships insured by sea, customs handled by us, with tracking to your door: most orders arrive 5–7 weeks after ordering. Need it sooner? Express air takes 2–4 weeks in total, priced at checkout.

The glass story
Shaped by hand, cooled slowly
Our glass shades are gathered from the furnace and blown or pressed by hand, then annealed slowly so the colour stays even and the wall stays strong. Small bubbles and slight differences between pieces are not flaws — they are how you know a hand made it.
