Spanish Alabaster · Solid Brass · Hand-Carved
A vertical alabaster pendant in the language of quiet contemporary lighting — a cylindrical Spanish alabaster shade hand-carved from a single block, capped with a solid cast brass collar and suspended on a braided fabric cord. The form is reductive: a single arched stone shape, a brass hemisphere, a vertical line of cord. Nothing more.
Quarried in Aragón, Spain, the alabaster diffuses warm light through its translucent grain — each shade carrying unique cloud-like veining no two pieces share. Available as a single pendant or as a multi-light cluster of up to twenty-one heads, the Figure suits kitchen islands, dining tables, stairwells, and double-height entries where a single sculptural drop or a vertical cascade is wanted.

FAQ
How many heads should I order for a kitchen island? +
For an island under 6 ft, 2–3 pendants in a row work well. For 6–8 ft islands, 3–5 heads. Hang the lowest point 30–36″ above the counter and let the cord lengths stagger if you prefer a more sculptural cluster.
Why does each shade look slightly different? +
The alabaster is quarried in Aragón, Spain and hand-carved from a single block. The cloud-like veining, color depth, and translucency are properties of the natural stone — no two shades are identical. This is the character of the material and the reason alabaster pendants have been valued for centuries.
Is the Figure pendant dimmable? +
Yes, with the right bulb. The fixture takes E26 (US) or E27 (EU) screw-base bulbs. Install dimmable LED bulbs on a TRIAC dimmer and the alabaster glow dims smoothly. We recommend warm-white 2700K–3000K to flatter the stone's natural tone.
Why is the lead time 25 days? +
Each alabaster shade is hand-carved to order from a fresh block of Aragón stone, then matched to its solid brass cap and tested. The 25-day production time covers carving, polishing, brass casting, assembly, and quality check before shipment.
Can I use it in a bathroom? +
The Figure is suitable for general bathroom installations away from direct shower spray — for example over a vanity or in a powder room. Avoid placing it directly above a shower or tub where steam and water spray make sustained contact, as moisture can over time affect the natural stone surface.

The alabaster story
Quarried in Spain, glowing from within
Spanish alabaster is a soft, translucent stone. Cut into shades a few millimetres thick, it turns an LED into a warm, even glow with the veining floating inside. Each shade is cut from its own block, so tone and pattern differ slightly from piece to piece — that is the material, not a fault.
Sculpted by earth,
softened by light.
Rare natural alabaster, hand-carved by master artisans and illuminated from within. Every piece is unrepeatable — a singular convergence of geology and craft.
"Alabaster does not merely hold light — it breathes with it, casting a warmth that cannot be manufactured, only discovered."
Formed through millions of years of slow crystallisation, alabaster is among the world's most ancient decorative stones. When illuminated, it yields a quiet, golden luminosity — gentle, organic, irreducibly human. Our collection exists to honour that rarity, designing forms that allow the stone to speak without interruption.
No two stones
are ever alike.
Alabaster carries within it a geological autobiography — millions of years compressed into veining, crystalline structures, and tonal shifts that no craftsman could plan or replicate. Five expressive patterns emerge most consistently in our collection.

Pure
Clear SurfaceA near-uniform honey surface with barely perceptible variation — the rarest and most meditative expression of the stone.

Ink Marbling
Flowing VeinsSoft, fluid grey veining reminiscent of East Asian ink painting — atmospheric, unhurried, deeply contemplative.

Lightning Veins
Sharp BranchingBold, branching mineral lines that fracture the surface with dramatic precision — striking from any angle and in any light.

Ice Crack
Angular FracturesGeometric fissures suspended within the stone — sculptural formations that diffuse and scatter light with quiet drama.

Snowflake
Crystalline FlecksSuspended constellations of lighter crystalline matter — a delicate drift across the surface that catches light from within.
Natural Variance Is Not a Defect
Because alabaster is a living natural stone, every piece carries its own unique veining and tonal variation — a quality we celebrate rather than suppress. We are unable to specify, select, or replicate any particular pattern. Ink marbling, lightning veins, ice-crack formations, and snowflake inclusions are inherent characteristics of the material and do not constitute a quality issue. If you prefer a perfectly uniform finish, this collection may not align with your expectations — and we kindly invite you to consider this before placing your order.
One material,
every room in the home.
From the grandeur of a double-height chandelier to the intimate glow of a bedside lamp — alabaster scales with intention, adapting to every room's rhythm without sacrificing presence.
Five stages of
quiet craftsmanship.
Every alabaster lamp begins as raw stone and arrives in your hands only after passing through a sequence of precise, unhurried steps — performed by artisans who know how to listen to the material before they shape it.

Material Selection
Rough blocks are hand-assessed at the quarry for translucence, structural integrity, and depth of colour within.

Precision Cutting
Diamond instruments slice the stone into workable panels, guided by its natural grain rather than against it.

Sculpting
Artisans turn, carve, and hollow each form by hand — responding to the stone's character as it is revealed.

Hand Polishing
Progressively finer grits refine the surface until the stone's interior luminosity is fully realised.

Final Assembly
LED modules, solid brass fittings, and hand-finished hardware are fitted and inspected — each piece individually, never in batches.
Seventeen finishes for the
metal that holds the stone.
Every alabaster fixture is completed by its metalwork — the canopy, stem, arms, and fittings that carry the stone and frame its glow. Each is available in seventeen numbered finishes from the Radilum Finishes Library: brass, bronze, iron, steel, nickel, and chrome characters, hand-applied and sealed, or a custom patina grown to match a sample you send us.

Finishes 01–17 · brass, bronze, iron, steel, nickel, chrome, black · custom patinas matched on request
Order by number, not by name. "Antique brass," "aged brass," "burnished brass" — ask five workshops what those mean and five different metals come back. Finish 04 is the same physical sample in our studio, on the atelier bench, and on your packing list.
And because no screen renders metal honestly, we ship the physical panels before anything is committed. Hold them against your alabaster's veining, your cabinetry and wall paint, at the hour you actually use the room — then send the number.
To own an alabaster lamp is to welcome a piece of natural sculpture into your home — shaped by the earth over millennia, refined by artisans over weeks, and completed only in the moment it is illuminated.
Radilum Design Studio

Treat it as the
rare object it is.
Alabaster is genuine natural stone — each fixture carries substantial weight and deserves the same careful handling you would extend to any fine sculpture. A few simple practices will preserve both piece and electrical integrity for a lifetime.
-
01Never lift by the power cord. The cord is not load-bearing. Tension applied to it can damage internal LED wiring and lead to connection failure over time.
-
02Always support the stone body.Cradle the fixture with both hands when moving or installing. For larger pieces, two people are strongly recommended.
-
03Clean gently; dust often.A dry, soft cloth is all that is needed. Avoid water, solvents, and abrasives — they will dull the polished surface irreversibly.
See it in motion.
