The Tense is a cloud-form pendant light made from 100% recyclable DuPont Tyvek paper — the tensioned paper membrane is stretched over a slim frame to create a soft, billowing cloud silhouette that floats overhead. Despite its delicate appearance, Tyvek is a remarkably durable, tear-resistant, and lightweight material, making the fixture both eco-friendly and practical: it ships flat in compact packaging and installs easily.
A slim integrated LED lights the shade from within, giving the cloud a soft, even internal glow, and an RC remote-control dimmer lets you adjust brightness wirelessly. Available in single-shade sizes (∅ 60 / 80 / 100 cm) and multi-shade clusters (2, 3, or 5 heads) at staggered heights, in white or black.

The Tense includes an RC (remote control) dimmer for convenient wireless monochrome dimming using the included handheld remote. Important: this dimming is designed for the remote only — it does not support wall dimmer switches. Do not wire the fixture to a TRIAC or other wall dimmer; use the supplied remote for all brightness control.

Multi-shade clusters hang at a fixed 150 cm total height with each shade suspended at a staggered level. The number of ceiling hooks matches the head count (2, 3, or 5) — confirm your ceiling can accommodate the hook spacing before installing the larger clusters.
Good to Know
Creases Are Normal
The Tyvek paper may arrive with shipping creases — these smooth out naturally over time once the shade is installed and tensioned. This is normal and not a defect.
If It Won’t Light
If the light does not turn on, check that the positive (+) and negative (–) terminals are correctly connected. Most no-light issues are a reversed or loose connection.

My shade arrived with creases — is that a problem? +
No — this is normal. DuPont Tyvek paper may develop light creases during shipping, but once the shade is installed and the paper is tensioned over its frame, the creases relax and smooth out naturally over time. This is a characteristic of the material, not a defect. If a crease remains pronounced after a week or two of installation, contact our support team.
Can I use it with a wall dimmer switch? +
No. The Tense uses an RC (remote control) dimmer only — dimming is controlled wirelessly via the included handheld remote. It is not compatible with wall dimmer switches (TRIAC or otherwise). Do not wire the fixture through a wall dimmer, as this can damage the integrated LED driver. Use the supplied remote for all brightness adjustment.
Which configuration suits my space? +
The single ∅ 60 cm suits bedrooms and smaller rooms; ∅ 80 cm standard dining and living rooms; ∅ 100 cm larger rooms and open-plan spaces where a bold single cloud is the goal. The multi-head clusters (2, 3, or 5 shades at staggered heights over a 150 cm drop) are designed for double-height spaces, stairwells, and statement installations — the varied shade sizes create a layered cloudscape effect. Each cluster requires one ceiling hook per shade, so confirm your ceiling can accommodate the hook layout.
Is the Tyvek paper durable? +
Yes — DuPont Tyvek is far more robust than it appears. It is tear-resistant, water-resistant, and dimensionally stable, which is why it is used for everything from protective apparel to shipping envelopes. As a lampshade it holds its tensioned cloud form reliably and resists the yellowing and brittleness of conventional paper shades. It is also 100% recyclable. Dust gently with a soft dry brush; do not wet-clean.
The light won’t turn on — what should I check? +
The most common cause is a reversed or loose wiring connection. Check that the positive (+) and negative (–) terminals are correctly and securely connected per the installation guide. Also confirm the remote has working batteries and is paired. If the fixture still does not light after verifying the connections, contact our support team for assistance.

Every Radilum fixture is made when you order it — metal cast and finished by hand, stone cut from its own block, glass blown in small batches. That is why lead times are counted in days and weeks rather than hours, and why small variations between pieces are part of the design.
