Neoclassical Chandelier · Brass · Clear Glass · 3–7 Tiers · E12 / E14

Multiple tiers of clear glass elements arranged on a brass frame — each tier progressively wider toward the bottom, the overall silhouette following the inverted-cone geometry of the classical European chandelier form. The glass components catch and refract light from the candelabra sockets within: the fixture both emits and scatters light simultaneously, producing the prismatic highlights on surrounding walls and ceiling that are distinctive to glass-element chandeliers. As with the original 18th-century prototypes, the effect is most pronounced when the fixture is lit against a darker ambient background.

Five configurations scale from a compact 3-tier, 6-head version (∅ 45 cm, ~15 kg) to a grand 7-tier, 27-head version (∅ 120 cm, ~40 kg). All share the same brass and clear glass material language and a 40 cm hanging chain. Weight is a primary installation consideration across all sizes — structural ceiling support must be confirmed before ordering the larger configurations.

All configurations: brass body · clear glass · 40 cm / 15.7″ hanging chain. Confirm ceiling support rating before ordering. See weight guidance below the table.

Critical: confirm ceiling structural support before ordering any configuration.

3-tier (15 kg) and 4-tier (21 kg): Install into a load-rated ceiling junction box rated for at least 30 kg. A standard residential junction box may not be adequate — confirm the rating on your box before installation.

5-tier 15-head (28 kg) and 5-tier 19-head (33 kg): These weights exceed the capacity of most standard junction boxes. A dedicated structural ceiling anchor into a joist or beam is required. Engage a licensed electrician to assess and install appropriate support before ordering.

7-tier 27-head (40 kg): This is an exceptionally heavy fixture. A structural engineer or licensed electrician must assess ceiling load capacity and install a dedicated rated anchor point before this chandelier is ordered. Do not install into standard residential drywall ceilings without structural reinforcement.

Bulbs are not included. Each arm uses one E12 (US) or E14 (international) candelabra socket. We recommend 2–4W LED E12/E14 candelabra flame-tip bulbs at 2700K warm white. Warm white complements the brass frame and activates the prismatic scatter of the clear glass elements most warmly. Clear-glass filament LED bulbs produce the sharpest glass refraction and are the most period-appropriate choice for a neoclassical chandelier.

Which configuration suits my room? +

Match the diameter to your room and table size — a classic guideline is the chandelier diameter (in cm) = room width (in metres) × 10. So a 4 × 5 m room suits a ∅ 40–50 cm fixture (3-tier 6-head). A 5 × 6 m dining room suits ∅ 60–80 cm (4-tier or 5-tier 15-head). The ∅ 100–120 cm versions are for grand formal rooms above 6 × 6 m, double-height foyers, and ballrooms. Ceiling height matters equally: add the chain (40 cm) and fixture height, then confirm the bottom of the chandelier will hang 75–90 cm above a dining table surface, or 200–210 cm above a clear floor in an entryway.

Why is the weight so important and how do I prepare? +

A standard residential ceiling junction box is typically rated for 23–35 kg — barely adequate for the mid-range configurations. The 7-tier version at 40 kg exceeds this outright. The consequence of under-rated support is catastrophic fixture failure — the chandelier can pull free and fall. Before ordering any version above 20 kg, engage a licensed electrician to inspect the ceiling structure, confirm or upgrade the junction box rating, and if necessary install a dedicated anchor bolt into a joist or concrete ceiling. The cost of proper structural assessment is small relative to the value of the chandelier and the safety risk.

What bulb gives the best prismatic glass effect? +

A clear glass E12/E14 LED filament candelabra bulb at 2700K warm white produces the sharpest refraction through the clear glass elements — the visible point-source light of a filament refracts precisely through each glass surface, creating defined prismatic highlights on the walls and ceiling. This is the most period-authentic choice for a neoclassical chandelier. A frosted bulb reduces the prismatic effect to a softer, more diffused scatter. Both produce warm-white output; avoid cool-white (4000K+) bulbs which produce a harsh quality inconsistent with the classical aesthetic.

Is it dimmable? +

Yes, when fitted with dimmable E12/E14 LED candelabra bulbs and a compatible TRIAC wall dimmer switch (both sold separately). Confirm the dimmer is rated for LED loads and sized for the total wattage of all bulbs in the fixture (multiply bulb wattage × number of heads). Dimming a glass chandelier to 40–60% typically produces the most atmospheric result — the reduced source brightness makes the prismatic scatter more visible and dramatic against the darker ambient background, rather than competing with it.

Measuring for Pendant Lighting

When installing pendants and chandeliers, it’s important to consider how you want your fixtures to hang in relation to the other furnishings in your space. Read on for our recommendations on how to hang the perfect light.

Kitchen

Aim for 30–36″ from the bottom of your fixture’s shade to the top of your island or countertop. Space multiple pendants 26–30″ apart. For a sense of proportion and balance, allow 12″ from the outermost fixture to the edge of your counter.

Dining Room

For optimal lighting and visibility, the bottom of your pendant should sit 30″ from the surface of your dining table. To scale your fixture, take the length and width of the room in feet, then convert that to inches. For a 10′ by 14′ room, the chandelier should be about 24″ wide.

Bedroom

If you’re hanging a pendant above a nightstand, allow for at least 30″ between the bottom of the shade and your nightstand’s surface. To keep the look balanced, center your pendant over your nightstand.
