Spanish Alabaster Bowl · Aged Brass Frame · Uplight Pendant
An inverted-bowl ceiling pendant in the language of 1930s Art Deco lighting — a wide shallow alabaster bowl suspended from four slender brass tie-rods that meet at a small central canopy. The bowl is hand-cut from a single block of Spanish alabaster, with six bulbs concealed inside, casting an ambient uplight wash through the stone and onto the ceiling.
The brass frame is hand-aged with a vintage finish — deeper at the recessed seam where the bowl meets the rim, brighter on the polished tie-rods. The result is a fixture that reads like a glowing alabaster vessel rather than a chandelier with visible bulbs. Suited to hallways, living rooms, foyers, primary bedrooms, and lower-ceiling spaces where a flush-mount feel is wanted without sacrificing presence — equally at home in residential and hospitality interiors.

FAQ
What size room does the Dionne suit? +
At ∅ 16.5″ × H 16.5″, it's well-scaled for hallways and corridors of 6–10 m², primary bedrooms and living rooms of 14–22 m², and entry foyers up to 18 m². The semi-flush profile (only 51 cm / 20″ total drop) makes it especially good for ceilings of 8–9 ft where a deeper chandelier would feel too low.
Why does each alabaster bowl look slightly different? +
The alabaster is quarried in Aragón, Spain and hand-cut from natural blocks. The cloud-like veining, color depth, and translucency are properties of the natural stone — no two bowls are identical. This is the character of the material, not a flaw, and one of the reasons alabaster has been valued for ambient lighting since Roman times.
Is the Dionne dimmable? +
Yes, with the right bulb. Each socket takes an E26 (US) or E27 (EU) screw-base bulb. Install dimmable LED bulbs on a TRIAC wall dimmer and the pendant dims smoothly. Warm white 2700K–3000K is recommended to flatter the alabaster glow.
What kind of light does it cast? +
The six bulbs are concealed inside the bowl, so light washes upward through the alabaster onto the ceiling rather than projecting downward. The result is ambient indirect illumination — softer and more atmospheric than a downlight chandelier — with the bowl itself glowing as a secondary light source. Best paired with separate task lighting if you need direct workspace illumination.
Can I install it in a low-ceiling room? +
Yes — the Dionne is essentially a semi-flush pendant. Total drop from canopy to bowl base is about 51 cm (20″), shorter than most chandeliers. It works comfortably in 8 ft ceilings (240 cm) and is well-suited to hallways and rooms where a longer drop would feel intrusive. The 30 cm suspension rod can also be shortened if needed.
What bulbs does it take? +
Six bulbs total, all E26 (US) or E27 (EU) screw-base. We recommend warm-white 2700K–3000K LED A19 or globe-shape bulbs at 40W incandescent equivalent each. Avoid daylight (5000K+) — it gives a clinical cast that clashes with the warm vintage brass and the natural cream of the alabaster.

Sculpted by earth,
softened by light.
Rare natural alabaster, hand-carved by master artisans and illuminated from within. Every piece is unrepeatable — a singular convergence of geology and craft.
"Alabaster does not merely hold light — it breathes with it, casting a warmth that cannot be manufactured, only discovered."
Formed through millions of years of slow crystallisation, alabaster is among the world's most ancient decorative stones. When illuminated, it yields a quiet, golden luminosity — gentle, organic, irreducibly human. Our collection exists to honour that rarity, designing forms that allow the stone to speak without interruption.
No two stones
are ever alike.
Alabaster carries within it a geological autobiography — millions of years compressed into veining, crystalline structures, and tonal shifts that no craftsman could plan or replicate. Five expressive patterns emerge most consistently in our collection.

Pure
Clear SurfaceA near-uniform honey surface with barely perceptible variation — the rarest and most meditative expression of the stone.

Ink Marbling
Flowing VeinsSoft, fluid grey veining reminiscent of East Asian ink painting — atmospheric, unhurried, deeply contemplative.

Lightning Veins
Sharp BranchingBold, branching mineral lines that fracture the surface with dramatic precision — striking from any angle and in any light.

Ice Crack
Angular FracturesGeometric fissures suspended within the stone — sculptural formations that diffuse and scatter light with quiet drama.

Snowflake
Crystalline FlecksSuspended constellations of lighter crystalline matter — a delicate drift across the surface that catches light from within.
Natural Variance Is Not a Defect
Because alabaster is a living natural stone, every piece carries its own unique veining and tonal variation — a quality we celebrate rather than suppress. We are unable to specify, select, or replicate any particular pattern. Ink marbling, lightning veins, ice-crack formations, and snowflake inclusions are inherent characteristics of the material and do not constitute a quality issue. If you prefer a perfectly uniform finish, this collection may not align with your expectations — and we kindly invite you to consider this before placing your order.
One material,
every room in the home.
From the grandeur of a double-height chandelier to the intimate glow of a bedside lamp — alabaster scales with intention, adapting to every room's rhythm without sacrificing presence.
Five stages of
quiet craftsmanship.
Every alabaster lamp begins as raw stone and arrives in your hands only after passing through a sequence of precise, unhurried steps — performed by artisans who know how to listen to the material before they shape it.

Material Selection
Rough blocks are hand-assessed at the quarry for translucence, structural integrity, and depth of colour within.

Precision Cutting
Diamond instruments slice the stone into workable panels, guided by its natural grain rather than against it.

Sculpting
Artisans turn, carve, and hollow each form by hand — responding to the stone's character as it is revealed.

Hand Polishing
Progressively finer grits refine the surface until the stone's interior luminosity is fully realised.

Final Assembly
LED modules, solid brass fittings, and hand-finished hardware are fitted and inspected — each piece individually, never in batches.
To own an alabaster lamp is to welcome a piece of natural sculpture into your home — shaped by the earth over millennia, refined by artisans over weeks, and completed only in the moment it is illuminated.
Radilum Design Studio

Treat it as the
rare object it is.
Alabaster is genuine natural stone — each fixture carries substantial weight and deserves the same careful handling you would extend to any fine sculpture. A few simple practices will preserve both piece and electrical integrity for a lifetime.
- 01Never lift by the power cord. The cord is not load-bearing. Tension applied to it can damage internal LED wiring and lead to connection failure over time.
- 02Always support the stone body.Cradle the fixture with both hands when moving or installing. For larger pieces, two people are strongly recommended.
- 03Clean gently; dust often.A dry, soft cloth is all that is needed. Avoid water, solvents, and abrasives — they will dull the polished surface irreversibly.
