At 42 cm tall and 15 cm deep, the Flume sits close to the wall without projecting aggressively into the room. It reads as a sculptural detail when unlit and as a warm mineral accent when on — suited to bedrooms, hallways, and any wall where a single well-proportioned sconce is the intended focal point.

Each stone is unique. White alabaster carries natural veining, tonal variation, and translucency that differ from piece to piece. The shade you receive will not be identical to photographs — that individuality is intrinsic to the stone, not a defect.

Most G9 bulbs available in hardware stores are 12V low-voltage — using a 12V G9 bulb in this fixture will result in immediate failure. What makes alabaster different from frosted glass? +
Alabaster is a natural gypsum stone with a semi-translucent mineral structure — light passes through the stone itself rather than reflecting from a coated surface. The result is a glow that is warmer, more organic, and more variable than frosted glass: the light output changes subtly with the veining of each individual piece, creating a living quality that manufactured diffusers cannot replicate. White alabaster specifically transmits light with a warm cream tone even under a neutral bulb color temperature.
What bulb should I use — and why does voltage matter? +
This fixture uses a G9 socket rated for AC 110V mains voltage. This is not the standard 12V low-voltage G9 system — using a 12V G9 bulb will cause immediate failure. Source specifically G9 AC 110V LED capsules from a lighting specialist. For the alabaster shade, a 2–4W G9 LED at 2700K warm white works best: the warm tone enhances the stone's natural cream and produces a softer, more flattering glow. Bulbs are not included.
Can two be paired flanking a headboard or mirror? +
Yes — the Flume is well-suited to symmetrical pairing. For a headboard installation, position the wall plate of each sconce 50–65 cm from center on each side, at a height where the alabaster shade sits at approximately eye level when seated (roughly 100–120 cm from the floor). For flanking a mirror or artwork, position each sconce 30–40 cm from the frame edge. Both fixtures require hardwired connections, so plan wiring positions before installation.
Is it dimmable? +
The fixture itself is passive — dimming depends on the bulb and wall dimmer combination. Use a dimmable G9 AC 110V LED capsule and a compatible TRIAC wall dimmer switch (both sold separately). Confirm the dimmer is rated for LED loads. Dimming alabaster sconces to 40–60% typically produces the warmest, most atmospheric effect — the stone's translucency becomes more pronounced at lower light levels.

Ink marbling, lightning veins, ice-crack formations, and snowflake inclusions are inherent characteristics of the material and do not constitute a quality issue. Rough blocks are hand-assessed at the quarry for translucence, structural integrity, and depth of colour within.
Precision Cutting
Diamond instruments slice the stone into workable panels, guided by its natural grain rather than against it.
Sculpting
Artisans turn, carve, and hollow each form by hand — responding to the stone's character as it is revealed.
Hand Polishing
Progressively finer grits refine the surface until the stone's interior luminosity is fully realised.
Final Assembly
LED modules, solid brass fittings, and hand-finished hardware are fitted and inspected — each piece individually, never in batches.

Every alabaster fixture is completed by its metalwork — the canopy, stem, arms, and fittings that carry the stone and frame its glow. Each is available in seventeen numbered finishes from the Radilum Finishes Library: brass, bronze, iron, steel, nickel, and chrome characters, hand-applied and sealed, or a custom patina grown to match a sample you send us.

Alabaster is genuine natural stone — each fixture carries substantial weight and deserves the same careful handling you would extend to any fine sculpture. A few simple practices will preserve both piece and electrical integrity for a lifetime.
- 01Never lift by the power cord.The cord is not load-bearing. Tension applied to it can damage internal LED wiring and lead to connection failure over time.
- 02Always support the stone body.Cradle the fixture with both hands when moving or installing. For larger pieces, two people are strongly recommended.
- 03Clean gently; dust often.A dry, soft cloth is all that is needed. Avoid water, solvents, and abrasives — they will dull the polished surface irreversibly.

Measuring for Pendant Lighting
When installing pendants and chandeliers, it’s important to consider how you want your fixtures to hang in relation to the other furnishings in your space. Read on for our recommendations on how to hang the perfect light.
Kitchen
Aim for 30–36″ from the bottom of your fixture’s shade to the top of your island or countertop. Space multiple pendants 26–30″ apart. For a sense of proportion and balance, allow 12″ from the outermost fixture to the edge of your counter.
Dining Room
For optimal lighting and visibility, the bottom of your pendant should sit 30″ from the surface of your dining table. To scale your fixture, take the length and width of the room in feet, then convert that to inches. For a 10′ by 14′ room, the chandelier should be about 24″ wide.
Bedroom
If you’re hanging a pendant above a nightstand, allow for at least 30″ between the bottom of the shade and your nightstand’s surface. To keep the look balanced, center your pendant over your nightstand.
