The stone story

Marble is quarried in blocks, cut into slabs and hollowed thin enough for light to pass through — when the lamp is on, the veins show like ink in water. Because no two blocks are alike, every piece is one of one; the veining in the photos is a guide, not a promise. Prefer travertine, alabaster or a coloured marble? We cut those too.

I chose the beige travertine, and the warm cream color blends easily with our wood furniture.

The oval shape is simple, but it feels much more interesting than a basic rectangular tray. Really happy with this one.
