Hand-Cut Alabaster Blocks · Stacked Column · Italian Mid-Century Floor Light
A sculptural floor light in the Italian mid-century stacked-block tradition — hand-cut alabaster squares stacked along a central column on a black brass base, each block rotated slightly off-axis so the silhouette reads as a quietly twisting tower. The integrated LED engine concealed in the base lights the alabaster from below, so the natural cream-and-amber veining of every block reads luminous from within.
Drawn from the 1960s–70s Italian Verona and Pesaro studio tradition of stacked alabaster column lighting. Suited to gallery and library interiors, primary-suite seating areas, contemporary entry foyers, and luxury hotel suites in 5,000+ sq ft estates — for design-led clients drawn to the natural-stone column lamp tradition in modern, gallery, and minimalist interiors.

Installation
- Plug-in installation. No hardwiring required — plug into a standard wall outlet matching your selected plug type.
- Two-person handling required. 63″ tall stacked column — un-crate carefully, lift only from the brass base, never from the alabaster blocks.
- Place on a stable level surface. The square base requires level flooring; hardwood, tile, or low-pile carpet preferred.
- Cord routing. 59″ plug cord exits at the base — plan placement near a wall outlet or use a UL-listed extension cord matched to your region.
- Care: dust the alabaster with a soft dry cloth only. Alabaster is porous — do not use water, glass cleaner, or any liquid; for fingerprints use a dry chamois. Keep away from high-humidity rooms.

FAQ
Where is this light meant to stand? +
It's a statement floor light at 63″ tall — best placed as the focal piece in a gallery niche, beside a primary-suite reading chair, in a library or study corner, or as the anchor of a contemporary entry foyer. The alabaster column lights from within rather than casting room wash, so plan it as architectural ambient lighting paired with separate task or reading sources.
Will my piece match the photographs? +
The form, scale, and brass base are made to consistent specification. The alabaster, however, is hand-cut from natural blocks — veining patterns, translucency, exact tone, and minor mineral inclusions differ between every block, and the stack of blocks per column means the cumulative variation is more visible than on a single-piece alabaster fixture. The light you receive will sit within the same visual language as the photographs but will be visibly distinct.
Is it dimmable? Lutron-compatible? +
The default integrated LED is non-dimming and will not work with standard TRIAC wall dimmers. TRIAC-dimmable wiring is available as a custom build — please specify when contacting us before ordering. The dimmable variant is compatible with Lutron Caséta, Diva, and forward-phase wall dimmers when used with a switched outlet.
Which plug should I choose? +
Select US, UK, AU, or EU at checkout to match your installation region. The integrated LED is wired for AC 110–240V universal voltage so the same light works in any market once the correct plug is fitted. Confirm plug type before ordering — wrong-plug shipments require return.
How do I clean the alabaster? +
Dust with a soft dry microfiber cloth or chamois only. Do not use water, glass cleaner, ammonia, vinegar, or any liquid cleaner — alabaster is porous and water will discolor or stain the surface. For fingerprints use a dry cloth. Keep the fixture away from direct sunlight (UV can shift the cream tone over years) and away from high-humidity rooms.
Suitable for hospitality and trade projects? +
Yes — hospitality-grade. Hand-cut alabaster construction and integrated sealed LED suit luxury hotel suites and presidential suites, gallery and museum interiors, members-club lounges, and Italian mid-century or contemporary residential projects. Because each column is built from unique alabaster blocks, project-quantity orders are coordinated for matched palette within the batch — veining still varies piece to piece. Sculpted by earth,
softened by light.
Rare natural alabaster, hand-carved by master artisans and illuminated from within. Every piece is unrepeatable — a singular convergence of geology and craft.
"Alabaster does not merely hold light — it breathes with it, casting a warmth that cannot be manufactured, only discovered."
Formed through millions of years of slow crystallisation, alabaster is among the world's most ancient decorative stones. When illuminated, it yields a quiet, golden luminosity — gentle, organic, irreducibly human. Our collection exists to honour that rarity, designing forms that allow the stone to speak without interruption.
No two stones
are ever alike.
Alabaster carries within it a geological autobiography — millions of years compressed into veining, crystalline structures, and tonal shifts that no craftsman could plan or replicate. Five expressive patterns emerge most consistently in our collection.

Pure
Clear SurfaceA near-uniform honey surface with barely perceptible variation — the rarest and most meditative expression of the stone.

Ink Marbling
Flowing VeinsSoft, fluid grey veining reminiscent of East Asian ink painting — atmospheric, unhurried, deeply contemplative.

Lightning Veins
Sharp BranchingBold, branching mineral lines that fracture the surface with dramatic precision — striking from any angle and in any light.

Ice Crack
Angular FracturesGeometric fissures suspended within the stone — sculptural formations that diffuse and scatter light with quiet drama.

Snowflake
Crystalline FlecksSuspended constellations of lighter crystalline matter — a delicate drift across the surface that catches light from within.
Natural Variance Is Not a Defect
Because alabaster is a living natural stone, every piece carries its own unique veining and tonal variation — a quality we celebrate rather than suppress. We are unable to specify, select, or replicate any particular pattern. Ink marbling, lightning veins, ice-crack formations, and snowflake inclusions are inherent characteristics of the material and do not constitute a quality issue. If you prefer a perfectly uniform finish, this collection may not align with your expectations — and we kindly invite you to consider this before placing your order.
One material,
every room in the home.
From the grandeur of a double-height chandelier to the intimate glow of a bedside lamp — alabaster scales with intention, adapting to every room's rhythm without sacrificing presence.
Five stages of
quiet craftsmanship.
Every alabaster lamp begins as raw stone and arrives in your hands only after passing through a sequence of precise, unhurried steps — performed by artisans who know how to listen to the material before they shape it.

Material Selection
Rough blocks are hand-assessed at the quarry for translucence, structural integrity, and depth of colour within.

Precision Cutting
Diamond instruments slice the stone into workable panels, guided by its natural grain rather than against it.

Sculpting
Artisans turn, carve, and hollow each form by hand — responding to the stone's character as it is revealed.

Hand Polishing
Progressively finer grits refine the surface until the stone's interior luminosity is fully realised.

Final Assembly
LED modules, solid brass fittings, and hand-finished hardware are fitted and inspected — each piece individually, never in batches.
To own an alabaster lamp is to welcome a piece of natural sculpture into your home — shaped by the earth over millennia, refined by artisans over weeks, and completed only in the moment it is illuminated.
Radilum Design Studio

Treat it as the
rare object it is.
Alabaster is genuine natural stone — each fixture carries substantial weight and deserves the same careful handling you would extend to any fine sculpture. A few simple practices will preserve both piece and electrical integrity for a lifetime.
- 01Never lift by the power cord. The cord is not load-bearing. Tension applied to it can damage internal LED wiring and lead to connection failure over time.
- 02Always support the stone body.Cradle the fixture with both hands when moving or installing. For larger pieces, two people are strongly recommended.
- 03Clean gently; dust often.A dry, soft cloth is all that is needed. Avoid water, solvents, and abrasives — they will dull the polished surface irreversibly.
See it in motion.

Measuring for Pendant Lighting
When installing pendants and chandeliers, it’s important to consider how you want your fixtures to hang in relation to the other furnishings in your space. Read on for our recommendations on how to hang the perfect light.
Kitchen
Aim for 30–36″ from the bottom of your fixture’s shade to the top of your island or countertop. Space multiple pendants 26–30″ apart. For a sense of proportion and balance, allow 12″ from the outermost fixture to the edge of your counter.
Dining Room
For optimal lighting and visibility, the bottom of your pendant should sit 30″ from the surface of your dining table. To scale your fixture, take the length and width of the room in feet, then convert that to inches. For a 10′ by 14′ room, the chandelier should be about 24″ wide.
Bedroom
If you’re hanging a pendant above a nightstand, allow for at least 30″ between the bottom of the shade and your nightstand’s surface. To keep the look balanced, center your pendant over your nightstand.
