Installation
- Hardwired wall installation — a licensed electrician is recommended.
- Fits a standard single-gang wall box. All mounting hardware is included.
- Watch the mane repair video before unboxing — handling the tassel correctly from the start prevents tangling.
- Unbox slowly. Lift the fixture by the metal frame, never by the horsehair tassel.
- If the mane has shifted in transit, comb it gently with a wide-tooth comb until it falls naturally — this is normal and easily corrected.
- Recommended placement: at eye level (≈ 150 cm / 60″ from floor) for hallways and accent walls; framing a mirror, fireplace, or vanity in a pair.

What if the horsehair mane arrives tangled or messy? +
This is the most common question — and the answer is: it's easy to fix. Simply comb the mane gently with a wide-tooth comb in long, even strokes until the strands fall naturally. The mane repair video above walks through the technique in under 2 minutes. If you're still stuck, contact our support team and we'll guide you through it. Do not cut the mane with scissors — this is irreversible and not the correct fix.
Is the horsehair real animal hair? +
No — it is synthetic faux horsehair. No animal products are used. It is woven from soft synthetic fibres engineered to drape and move like real horsehair while being more durable, more colour-stable, and easier to maintain than the natural material.
Can I wash or wet-clean the mane? +
No — water and cleaning sprays can mat the synthetic fibres and affect the drape. To clean, simply dust gently with a soft brush or comb through with a wide-tooth comb. For deeper refresh, hang the lamp installed and let gravity do the work — the strands will naturally settle over a few days.
Which bulb do you recommend? +
A G9 LED bulb in warm white (2700K), at 3–4W. Because the diffuser is white acrylic, frosted bulbs blend in cleanly. Avoid clear filament bulbs — they may show too sharply through the acrylic shade. Cool-white bulbs clash with the warm metal-and-tassel character; stick to warm white.
How does it look in pairs? +
Beautifully. Two Antonia sconces flanking a mirror, fireplace, or bed create a strong symmetrical statement — the horsehair tassels mirror each other and frame the central feature. The slim 9 cm width per fixture means you can space them close to a focal point without crowding the wall.
Is the lamp dimmable? +
Yes — paired with a dimmable G9 LED bulb and a TRIAC-compatible wall dimmer (e.g. Lutron Skylark, Leviton Decora), the Antonia dims smoothly. The fixture itself has no built-in dimmer.
Will the synthetic fibres fade or yellow over time? +
Under normal indoor lighting, the fibres are colour-stable and will not noticeably fade. Avoid direct prolonged sunlight (e.g. installing opposite a sun-facing window with no curtain), which can affect colour over years.
What if I damage the mane after installation? +
Contact our support team with your SKU and a photo. For most cases, our combing technique resolves the issue. For severe damage that requires a replacement mane component, we offer replacement service — please reach out and we'll arrange it.
